Teachers of Bee Jay's Hair Styling Academy teach by lecturing, demonstrating, and having students perform under their supervision. Students do not learn a skill when the teacher performs the skill for them. Therefore, all work on the clinic floor is done by the students, with the guidance and supervision of highly skilled and trained teachers.

The teachers formalize the course of instruction through the medium of careful occupational analysis, and seek to include all the necessary skills and information needed for success in the training of students.

Betty Jane Yarbrough, Founder
Betty Yarbrough, the founder of BeeJay's Academy, has a long history in the cosmotology profession. After obtaining her Cosmotology License in 1953, Betty advanced her knowledge by obtaining her Arkansas Cosmetology Instructor License in 1973, as well as her Electroysis Instructor License in 1974.

Betty's passion for Cosmetology lead her into service as President of AHCA from 1984 until 1988. Other services has included AR Fashion Member (1978) and Officer of the AR School Owners Association (1986). Betty has continued her education throughout her many years through advanced training; local, national & abroad.

Betty was recognized for her expertise in the cosmetology industry on a State level, where she served as an officer for the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology from 1984 to 1999.

Jane Powell, Director
Jane has always had a passion for the cosmetology profession. Raised in the cosmetology industry, Jane brings over 30 years of experience to the Academy as she obtained her cosmetology license in 1973.

Furthering her education, Jane acquired an Arkansas Cosmetology Instructor License in 1976 as well as obtaining an Electrolysis Instructor License in 1986. Jane is currently one, of only a handfull, of Electrolysis Instructors in the state of Arkansas.

Jane's training is considered to be advanced, as she has attended local, national and abroad training, all of which is drawn upon in the classroom. She is the Financial Aid Administrator for Bee-Jay's Academy.

Beginning in 2001, Jane continues to serve as an officer for the Arkansas State Board of Cosmetology.
